Rocking outfit for Rock star Shruti

‘Azma Luck Azma’ the song has just hooked the youngsters onto its rock genre. Sung by actress and singer Shruti Haasan the song has already generated high response and earned its movie, ‘Luck’ enough expectations. The video song features Shruti, also the leading lady of the movie, attired in black outfit, singing hopping around, jiving amidst the rock band and other dancers.

The stylised young actress is seen wearing a pant that is adorned with many chains dangling from it. The designer behind the black beauty looks, Binal Shah says, “It was a huge responsibility to style Shruti. The film’s look is very rugged and real, but in songs I had to bring out the glamorous side. My favourite is the rock song of Shruti. I chose the colourblack, used a leather one-piece top and riveted it. Teamed it up with a pair of well-fitted jeans and used silver chains all over the jeans which made them very heavy!”

All looks pretty and fine but did you know that this rocking dress did weigh like the rock? Yes, it is said to be weighing around 10 kilos and proved very uncomfortable for the actress; so much that it used to hinder her from using the rest room. But Shruti “just smiled through and looked like a rock star”, revealed the stylist.

They say ‘Diligence is the mother of good Luck’. Right, Shruti?

Duggu does a Tattoo!

He is not only romantic on screen but also off screen. The green eyed hero, Hrithik Roshan has gone step ahead to prove his love for his darling wife Suzanne.

The Bollywood heartthrob has secretly tattooed his wife’s name on his right wrist when she was away holidaying with their sons, with a view to surprise her. Hrithik seems to be the latest hero to join the Tattoo mania and had already tried the imprint art before along with Suzanne. The actor had approached a Mumbai based tattoo artiste, Sameer Patange, the one whom the actor trusted the most. The artist said, “Hrithik has got Sussane’s name tattooed on his wrist. We had discussed it earlier and he had asked me to work on an apt design when he and Sussane got a (six-point star) tattoo done from me a few months ago. Hrithik got the tattoo done while Sussane wasn’t in India. We had several meetings at his residence to finalise how the tattoo will look. I chose a font called Elvish, which is unique. Hrithik liked it a lot too. It was great to see how co-operative he was, carefully following all the instructions before and after the tattoo. He was like a child, extremely thrilled after the tattoo was done and couldn’t wait to show it to Sussane.”

Hmm, now the news is out we wonder if the surprise will remain a surprise or not. For a star’s secret is never a secret and often travels faster. But when Suzanne finds out about the tattoo gift we are sure she will sing, ‘Crazy kiya re’!

5 for Bebo, 2 for Kids

Wondering what is this sharing all about? Well, they are the set of days dedicated by our Chote Nawab of Bollywood to his lady love and darling kids. Saif Ali Khan said to have chalked out five days for his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and two days for his two children, Sarah and Ibrahim.

It is said that the actor shares happy bonding hours with his kids and enjoys their company. Saif actually plays really cool with his kids. So much that, his naughty beta calls him ‘Dude’! Now the young brat has even learnt to send text messages and often sends two worded messages his daddy dearest. While Sarah, elder one, loves to chit chat with her dad or sometimes goes for movie with her friends. Saif is really loves his kids and takes care that they are kept away from the media and keeps tab on them while they come on sets with him. It seems Ibrahim hates the Press confronting him unexpectedly.

Now you will be wondering where our hot Bebo fits in here? Well, Kareena sees that nothing comes in between this trio and so keeps herself busy when the doting father meets his children. She either indulges in household chores or carries out her work commitments.

We say Kya family hai!

Villains’ new suave looks

There were days when a villain would look like a villain. Just by his looks, the heroine would shriek and run away from him.

These days the villains can make the heroes run for cover. If not more they look as handsome and suave like the heroes. With the likes of Prakashraj, Rahul Dev and others, villains have started to look appealing.

Even the heroes of these days have started to either accept villain roles or lead roles with shades of grey. According to sources, popular hero Suriya is also playing a negative role in his next flick.

This is giving rise to a new era of villains and it must be said that they would develop the same fan following just like any other big heroes.

Jr NTR to play his grandfather’s role?

Young tiger Junior NTR has been ruling Tollywood with many hits to his credit. However he is currently busy with the shooting of his movie tentatively titled ‘Adurs’ along with V V Vinayak.

Sources reveal that he is in touch with popular director Dasari Narayana Rao. The buzz is that the two have discussed the chances of re-making one of NTR’s super hit movies.

The movie in discussion seems to be “Bobbili Puli”. There has been no confirmation as yet from any of the sources. Meanwhile if such a project works out then many feel it will be an exciting watch and given the energy levels of junior, the movie will gain some momentum.

An Alfa in Chrysler Auditions

ON a scenic rural stretch of autostrada between Milan and Turin, an Alfa Romeo MiTo in luscious Rosso Giulietta paint merged onto the expressway. It pulled alongside, paused, then sped away in a blatant invitation to race — perhaps because I, too, was driving a red MiTo.

Despite my vow not to send any more euros to the operators of Italy’s speed cameras, I must confess that I managed to keep the other red MiTo in sight.

Over the kilometers, sometimes the driver would slow down, inviting me to pass. Then he would zoom ahead again. This leap-frogging continued until we reached a toll plaza outside Turin. He cheerily waved “arrivederci” and veered off at an exit.

This guy was just the sort of driver this new Alfa is aimed at: an active, thrill-seeking, performance-minded 20-something.

There are plenty of young Americans who meet those criteria as well, and they will have a shot at sowing their wild oats in a MiTo, too. Since the Fiat Group acquired a stake in Chrysler this year, it announced that the MiTo and the Fiat 500 would arrive in American showrooms in 2010.

“The MiTo is going to help us re-establish the Alfa brand in the United States,” said Richard Gadeselli, vice president for communications of the Fiat Group, in a recent interview at the company’s headquarters here.

Though Alfa Romeo left the American market in 1995, the MiTo hatchback will not really be the first new Alfa to appear in the United States since then. The 8C Competizione and Spider have been available through select Ferrari and Maserati dealers since last year. Considering the stratospheric prices of the limited-edition, hand-built 8C, the MiTo will be the first new Alfa intended for general audiences.

Both the MiTo and the 500 will be sold at Chrysler — not Ferrari — dealerships, though they will still wear Alfa and Fiat badges. American-market prices have not been announced, but $20,000 or so seems likely for the MiTo and mid-teens for the 500.

The autostrada connecting Milan and Turin was an appropriate venue for a test drive; the MiTo, which is pronounced me-TOE and sounds like an athlete’s foot remedy, is in fact a melding of the names of those cities. Milan, where Alfa was founded in 1910, is the location of the Centro Stile design studio where the MiTo was conceived, and Turin — Italy’s Motor City — is where it is built.

One Giant Leap to Nowhere

The American space program, the greatest, grandest, most Promethean — O.K. if I add “godlike”? — quest in the history of the world, died in infancy at 10:56 p.m. New York time on July 20, 1969, the moment the foot of Apollo 11’s Commander Armstrong touched the surface of the Moon.

It was no ordinary dead-and-be-done-with-it death. It was full-blown purgatory, purgatory being the holding pen for recently deceased but still restless souls awaiting judgment by a Higher Authority.

Like many another youngster at that time, or maybe retro-youngster in my case, I was fascinated by the astronauts after Apollo 11. I even dared to dream of writing a book about them someday. If anyone had told me in July 1969 that the sound of Neil Armstrong’s small step plus mankind’s big one was the shuffle of pallbearers at graveside, I would have averted my eyes and shaken my head in pity. Poor guy’s bucket’s got a hole in it.

Why, putting a man on the Moon was just the beginning, the prelude, the prologue! The Moon was nothing but a little satellite of Earth. The great adventure was going to be the exploration of the planets ... Mars first, then Venus, then Pluto. Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus? NASA would figure out their slots in the schedule in due course. In any case, we Americans wouldn’t stop until we had explored the entire solar system. And after that ... the galaxies beyond.

NASA had long since been all set to send men to Mars, starting with manned fly-bys of the planet in 1975. Wernher von Braun, the German rocket scientist who had come over to our side in 1945, had been designing a manned Mars project from the moment he arrived. In 1952 he published his Mars Project as a series of graphic articles called “Man Will Conquer Space Soon” in Collier’s magazine. It created a sensation. He was front and center in 1961 when NASA undertook Project Empire, which resulted in working plans for a manned Mars mission. Given the epic, the saga, the triumph of Project Apollo, Mars would naturally come next. All NASA and von Braun needed was the president’s and Congress’s blessings and the great adventure was a Go. Why would they so much as blink before saying the word?

Three months after the landing, however, in October 1969, I began to wonder ... I was in Florida, at Cape Kennedy, the space program’s launching facility, aboard a NASA tour bus. The bus’s Spielmeister was a tall-fair-and-handsome man in his late 30s ... and a real piece of lumber when it came to telling tourists on a tour bus what they were looking at. He was so bad, I couldn’t resist striking up a conversation at the end of the tour.

Sure enough, it turned out he had not been put on Earth for this job. He was an engineer who until recently had been a NASA heat-shield specialist. A baffling wave of layoffs had begun, and his job was eliminated. It was so bad he was lucky to have gotten this stand-up Spielmeister gig on a tour bus. Neil Armstrong and his two crew mates, Buzz Aldrin and Mike Collins, were still on their triumphal world tour ... while back home, NASA’s irreplaceable team of highly motivated space scientists — irreplaceable! — there were no others! ...anywhere! ... You couldn’t just run an ad saying, “Help Wanted: Experienced heat-shield expert” ... the irreplaceable team was breaking up, scattering in nobody knows how many hopeless directions.
