Minmini to start a Music School

She has lent her voice to many hit songs from films including ‘Karuththamma’ and ‘Thevar Magan’. She shot to fame overnight by singing “Chinna Chinna Aasai” from Mani Ratnam's National award-winning film ‘Roja’.

Yup! We are talking about Minmini, the silvery voiced lady. She is now planning to open a music academy very soon.

She will start the classes with a hundred students at Vazhakala near Kochi in Kerala. The academy will offer Western and classical style training in piano, keyboard, guitar, violin and vocals.

Minmini who started her singing career at age five with Kalabhavan orchestra, debuted in films with Venu Nagavalli's Malayalam film ‘Swagatham’ and was introduced to Tamil by maestro Illayaraja through Vikram’s ‘Meera’ (1991).

Minmini has sung around 2,000 film songs in seven languages and have bagged many awards, including Tamil Nadu State Government Award, Filmfare Award, and Cinema Express Awards. She had taken a break from her singing career following an ailment that affected her singing, but was happily and miraculously back to fame within a few years.

Let’s wish this lady a good luck now!
